In general, your ability to breastfeed remains about the same as it was before surgery. That said, there may be a higher risk of reduced lactation if the incision is placed around the areola (periareolar).
Most patients retain full nipple sensation. You may notice a temporary reduction in sensation for a few weeks or months, especially if the incision was periareolar. In rare cases, some long-term changes occur.
The choice includes implant vs fat-transfer, implant material (silicone vs saline), implant shape, size and placement (under-muscle, dual plane, etc.). In your consultation I’ll measure your breast base width, assess your anatomy and skin quality, understand your goals and together we’ll pick the implant type and size that fits your frame and vision.
Many patients return to desk-type work in about one week. Full activity, including upper body workouts, usually resumes around 6-8 weeks. In the early period you’ll wear a post-surgical bra or bandeau, expect soreness, tightness and swelling, and the implants will gradually “drop and fluff” into their final position over the next few months.
Breast implants are built for longevity, but they are not guaranteed to last a lifetime. Many enjoy results for 10-20 years or more before replacement may be needed. You should monitor for changes in shape, firmness, symmetry or sensation. If any concerns arise — rupture, shifting, capsular contracture — they should be assessed promptly.
The “right size” is a partnership between your aesthetic goals and your anatomy. Each implant has specific measurements (base width, projection, volume). At your consultation we’ll measure your breast base width and recommend a size that fits your frame for durable, natural-looking results.
